PROJECT CONNECT a malaysia - UK cultural exchange social development project

Aims of the exchange:

•to explore our immediate and global landscapes/environment

•to expand understanding of ourselves, our culture and our world

•to broaden personal, cultural and creative horizons

•to absorb influences and ideas from a different source and to promote

  inter-cultural learning

•to make theatre in a new context

•to challenge assumptions about ourselves and others

•to investigate the meaning of global citizenship

•to develop leadership, organisational, fundraising and associated skill

The Malaysian & UK Groups

Participants from each country will be aged between 18 - 25yrs, and there will be 10 young people per group. All group members will already be engaged in creative disciplines.

The project will explore the possibility of exchanging views, ideas and dreams with a similar group from a differing culture to their own and takes as its starting point an exploration of our physical and cultural landscapes. The young participants will be involved in all stages of the planning and development of the exchange in order to take real creative and organisational ownership of the project.
